September 27, 2011
Greetings,
Does the date September 27 have any special significance to you? I clearly remember September 27, 1974. It was the day I first went to Africa and began teaching. I’ve met so many wonderful families since then.
In this newsletter I want to especially welcome Paul Cho who will be joining Primary 1 next Monday. Paul and his family have recently moved to Hong Kong from Korea. We look forward to having Paul in our school.
Tonight we will have our first meeting to organize the Parent-Teacher Association.
All this week we have been celebrating Gospel Week. This is a school-wide event organized by our Chaplain. Everyone has been enjoying the special games and contests during lunchtime. Others have had a chance to buy delicious Korean snacks. Mr. Tom has been our main speaker in the primary section. And we’ve learned lots of new songs too. I’m sure the children will enjoy singing them to you.
Primary 1 and Primary 2 have really tried hard to conduct themselves in a more mature way. We are now ready to move to a system of rewards. Those students who do not receive any time-outs or marks on the board will be given HKAA money to save/exchange for goods at Ms. Shoha’s Store. We will aim for non-edible items, mostly along the line of small toys, stickers, pencils etc. The store should be ready to open on October 3.
School has now been in session for almost a month so it’s time to think about some tests and quizzes. You will be kept informed of how to best prepare for these. And, of course, I wish you all the best.
Ms. Karen
